So Much Procrastination to Get Done

I need to do the following things probably in the following order:
1. Grade Correspondence Portfolios
2. Write Postion Paper
3. Finish Research Log and Feasibility Studies
4. Grade Formal Reports
5. Grade Revisions
6. Pack

What am I doing right now? I'm procrasti-packing because most of the school related things don't sound like much fun. I also ate a juicy mango. It was so sweet and energizing.

For those interested in procrastinating, I also strongly recommend Game of Thrones from HBO. It's soooooooo good. Lindsey and I are hooked, and I think we're both ready to jump into reading the books too.

I best finish packing the kitchen and then head into the office to grade. :(

Count-down to Graduation

So a couple of my friends have started posting facebook statuses of their final to-do lists before we graduate. I decided to jump on board, but my list was too long for a facebook status, so here it is.

1. Grade correspondence portfolios for 417
2. 15-20 page paper for 710
3. 2000-2500 word paper for 759
4. Masters defense
5. Presentation for 759
6. Research log for 759
7. 2 feasibility reports for 759
8. Grade 18 final reports & presentations for 417
9. Final test for 710
10. Grade all revisions for 417

I also have a couple readings left for 710, but they're small, so I'm not counting them. Blergh. How will I get all of this done in 2 weeks? Also, why do I still procrastinate so much 25 years into life?

Things Are Nice

I feel pretty good about life.

1. I turned in a full draft of my project on Friday.
2. I got a hair cut to get rid of the nasty dead hair from my misadventures with hair dye over spring break.
3. I cleaned the house today. Everything smells like orange. Mmmmm.
4. Lindsey and I are frying fish for dinner.
5. It looks like I'm going to beat Chris at Scrabble.
6. I think I found the perfect place to live in Grand Junction.

The only things working against me are allergies, my cat is shedding right now, and I'm a bit behind on my tech writing project. I can't really complain. Two of those are seasonal, and the other I can get done.

Nothing can take me down now that I have a full draft of my writing project. I best be grading now though. I promised my students I would get caught up this weekend.

Project? What Project?

I wanted to work on my project today, but there just wasn't time. I was very productive today though.

1. I graded/responded to proposals for my students final projects.

2. I read all the web design articles for tech comm and wrote my response.

3. I attended the SAGE meeting.

4. I workshopped Emily's statement of teaching philosophy for a scholarship application.

5. I helped Angel come up with reasons why a certain professor should get the service award from SAGE.

Now I'm going to bed. I will wake up at the crack of dawn to finally finish my project...at least, that's the plan. I think I am feeling a little dejected because my friend, nicknamed Cheever, explained to me that gamers make poor friends. They invite you to a quest and then take all the diamonds. Online gaming might be a no-go, except with Lindsey because she will be nice.

So Far Behind...So I'm Cooking

It's spring break. I haven't gotten enough done. I'm so far behind I was up on-and-off all night with anxiety. I decided to get up at the crack of dawn and work on my writing project.

I was awake at 5ish, thinking about what to write, feeling very motivated, but I didn't get out of bed.

It's now about noon-ish. What have I accomplished? I've played scrabble online, checked facebook, twitter, posted on my blog, read a recipe for oyster stew, made crepes and bacon for breakfast, and I have peanut butter banana bread in the oven. I haven't even opened the file for my writing project or cracked a book. I am doomed.

Monday, I have an annotated bibliography due. I have read everything for Indian children's lit, though.

Wednesday, I have a proposal due for my tech writing project (which means I need to have most of the work done on the actual project). I also need to do the reading for tech writing and Indian children's lit.

I also still haven't graded correspondence portfolios...even though I've graded all the stuff that has been handed in after those. Blergh. They are soooooooooo boring.

Spring Break Accomplishments...

I watched the first two seasons of Merlin. Season 3, I need you and have zero access. Sad.

I have graded a ton: quizzes, group graphic memos, instruction evaluations, and lego instructions.

I dyed my hair red. Then attempted to dye it dark brown. I now have an unnatural dark red hair that I am hoping fades more natural. It is satisfactory though. I'm just happy that I no longer glow in the sunlight.

I still haven't finished my project, graded correspondence portfolios or pie chart designs, done my annotated bibliography, or my project proposal.

Can I run away to Grand Junction now instead of in May?

On a random note, I love my cat.

Job In Hand, I'm Now Motivated

I can't be distracted by job searching anymore...it turns out I can be distracted by looking for a boat and an apartment.

I'd really like another snark, but I can't find a used one in a convenient location. If I have to drive several states over to buy it, it no longer is affordable. I really can't afford to store one anyway, but I dream.

Finding an apartment is a reasonable distraction, right?

My goal for today is to get all caught up on grading. I'm going into the office to tackle this great feat.

Tomorrow is project day. I will finish that sucker. Friday, I will annotate for Indian Children's Lit. Saturday, I will do my project proposal for Han Yu's class. Sunday, I will finish Cracking India. Monday, I will read for 759. Tuesday, I will write my response paper and probably wrap up the proposal started on Saturday. I cannot plan beyond that.

Since I'm going into the office, I won't make it out to hang with CB until this evening. I think I will watch a few episode's of Merlin with said cat to reward myself for grading. Season 2 is thus far good, and available on Hulu.

A Classic Cheryl Friday (and a Pseudo Classic Saturday)

Last night was a classic Cheryl Friday for sure. I went home and decided that I needed to just chill out on the first night of spring break before I start working on stuff.

So what did I do?

I pulled up Netflix to watch something that I would truly enjoy. No compromising with the tastes of others. I opted to watch Merlin. I loved it! (Yes, all good things do come from the BBC.)

I also pulled out some pencils and paper and did some sketching. I am super out of practice, and I wasn't that good in the first place, but it was a great Friday, though cat kept trying to claw my blanket and sit on my notepad, but what are cat's for if not to be a nuisance?

Before becoming a graduate student, I used to wake up on Saturday morning, start baking something and set to cleaning. I don't do that anymore. Grad school has helped me to ignore dirt, but this morning I tackled the clogged kitchen drain and the pile of dishes that resulted. I am the master! I want to deep clean, but I don't feel motivated to just go nuts, so I'm breaking things up by day. Tomorrow, I'll dust and tackle the floors on the main floor. I'll break up the rest of the cleaning later.

It's not worth baking since no one is here, so that can't be a part of classic Saturday.

I best get off to take care of Naomi's cat CB--I'm far too late on that today. I'll spend most of the afternoon and evening with CB, grading I think. I am soooooooooooooooooooooo far behind on grading. I might do a little creative writing too though.

When I return this evening, I will crochet and watch more Merlin with my cat who is currently napping.
